Germination characteristics of different maize inbred hybrids and their parental lines

چکیده

Abstract The germination characteristics response for some selected maize hybrids and their parental inbred lines were observed evaluated in an vitro trial. aim of the study was to determine differences within performance hybridization pathways. Single cross (SC), double (DC) three-way (TC) studied. results showed that seeds started after third day completely germinated on seventh sowing. Hybrids SC (F 1 ), DC TC ) excellent with a 100% rate fifth produced highest shoot root lengths 7.9 cm, 7.6 6.9 cm (shoot length) 12.9 13.9 14.9 (root length), respectively. Thus, obtained clearly show hybrid have higher (100%), seedlings more vigorous compared parents.

Determination of levels of Striga germination Stimulants for maize gene bank accessions and elite inbred lines

Parasitism by Striga hermonthica (Del) Benth is a severe constraint in maizeproduction in sub-Saharan Africa. Varying levels of tolerance to Striga attack havebeen identified and exploited in breeding programs of several crops. However, thelevel and stability of the tolerance is generally unacceptable in field-practice. Onlylimited exploration has been undertaken among the farmers’ landraces to...

Proteomic Analysis of Silk Viability in Maize Inbred Lines and Their Corresponding Hybrids

A long period of silk viability is critical for a good seed setting rate in maize (Zea mays L.), especially for inbred lines and hybrids with a long interval between anthesis and silking. To explore the molecular mechanism of silk viability and its heterosis, three inbred lines with different silk viability characteristics (Xun928, Lx9801, and Zong3) and their two hybrids (Xun928×Zong3 and Lx98...

Karyotype variability in tropical maize sister inbred lines and hybrids compared with KYS standard line

Maize karyotype variability has been extensively investigated. The identification of maize somatic and pachytene chromosomes has improved with the development of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) using tandemly repeated DNA sequences as probes. We identified the somatic chromosomes of sister inbred lines that were derived from a tropical flint maize population (Jac Duro [JD]), and hybri...
